- expenses
- Develop and practice a wide variety of skills (doesn't have to be formal education--learn from a

- equipment
- Rotate food supply
- Store cash in $1 bills
- Store food and water
- Store digital photos in more than one location and on more than one device
- Try keeping your house a degree or two colder than usual in the winter (then wearing more layers,
- spending more time upstairs), and warmer in the summer (then spending more time in the
- basement)
- Try living only off of the food you have stored in the house for a week, a month, etc.
- Try not purchasing anything new until you've used everything in your freezer/fridge
- Try turning off the water for 3 days--can you live off of what you have?
- Turn off lights when you are not using them
- Update 72-hour kits and test smoke alarms each General Conference

Quotes
"We need to make both temporal and spiritual preparation for the events prophesied at the time of the Second Coming. And the preparation most likely to be neglected is the one less visible and more difficult-the spiritual. A 72-hour kit of temporal supplies may prove valuable for earthly challenges, but, as the foolish virgins learned to their sorrow, a 24-hour kit of spiritual preparation is of greater and more enduring value" [Elder Dallin H. Oaks. (April 2004). Preparation for the Second Coming, Ensign].
President Ezra Taft Benson counseled members that “from the standpoint of food production, storage, handling, and the Lord’s counsel, wheat should have high priority. … Water, of course, is essential. Other basics could include honey or sugar, legumes, milk products or substitutes, and salt or its equivalent,“ he said. ”The revelation to produce and store food may be as essential to our temporal welfare today as boarding the ark was to the people in the days of Noah” (“Prepare for the Days of Tribulation,”//Ensign,// Nov. 1980, 33).

Scriptures
Hebrews 11:7: By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
D&C 88:119: Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;
2 Nephi 28:30: For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.
1 Nephi 3:7: And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
Luke 12:47: And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. (i.e., suffer the consequences of the lack of obedience/preparedness)
D&C 38:29-30: Ye hear of wars in far countries, and you say that there will soon be great wars in far countries, but ye know not the hearts of men in your own land.
30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.
D&C 29:34: Wherefore, verily I say unto you that all things unto me are spiritual, and not at any time have I given unto you a law which was temporal; neither any man, nor the children of men; neither Adam, your father, whom I created.
Alma 37:6: Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
