Spiritual Thought
- What are some of the lies Satan tells us to keep us from recognizing and accepting our own divine worth? (Discouragement, negative self-perceptions, negative self-talk, comparisons)
- Think of women in the ward who seem to know who they are. What are some of the characteristics/qualities that you notice about them?
- What is “divine worth” and where does it come from? (Not from physical beauty or possessions, but from our relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ)
- How does having a strong sense of our divine worth protect us (and our families) from the influence of the adversary? (Moses 1:12-16; Resist peer pressure and temptation; increase trust in the Savior and His atonement; overcome discouragement)

Quotes on Divine Worth
he First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: “All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. … In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life” (“The Family: A Proclamation to the World,”Liahona, Oct. 2004, 49; Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102).
“Her self-esteem is earned by individual righteousness and a close relationship with God. Her outward glow is generated by goodness within. And her patience is much more apparent than any imperfection.” – Russell M. Nelson
“To help another human being reach one’s celestial potential is part of the divine mission of woman.” – Russell M. Nelson
"Like the caterpillars who will one day become butterflies, you have the magnificent potential to develop the powers within you and become greater than most of you dare dream...you have the power and the capacity to perform so well that you can inherit all that our Father has if you begin the process and continue until you become what you are really meant to be....You can choose to use the powers within you to have a happy life of continued growth and development that leads to eternal progression." - Barbara Smith
"You are creatures of divinity, you are daughters of the Almighty. Limitless is your potential. Magnificent is your future, if you will take control of it. Do not let your lives drift in a fruitless and worthless manner...Never forget that you came to earth as a child of the divine Father, with something of divinity in your very makeup. The Lord did not send you here to fail. He did not give you life to waste it. He bestowed upon you the gift of mortality that you might gain experience, positive, wonderful, purposeful experience that will lead to life eternal. He has give you this glorious church, His church, to guide you and direct you, to give you opportunity for growth and experience, to teach you and lead you, and encourage you, to bless you with eternal marriage, to seal upon you a covenant between you and Him that will make of you His chosen daughter, one upon whom He may look with love and with a desire to help. May God bless you richly and abundantly, my dear young friends, His wonderful daughters." - President Gordon B. Hinckley
The new declaration of the Relief Society begins, ‘We are beloved spirit daughters of God.’ To be a daughter of God means that you are the offspring of Deity, literal descendants of a Divine Father, inheriting godly attributes and potential. To be a daughter of God also means that you have been born again, changed from a ‘carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness’ [Mosiah 27:25] . … Being a daughter of God means that if you seek it, you can find your true identity. You will know who you are." - James E. Faust, “What It Means to Be a Daughter of God,” Liahona, January 2000, 120, 123.
"I want to tell you, each and every one of you, that you are well acquainted with God our Heavenly Father....for there is not a soul of you but what has lived in His house and dwelt with Him year after year; and yet you are seeking to become acquainted with Him, when the fact is, you have merely forgotten what you did know. There is not a person here today but what is a son or a daughter of that Being." - L. Tom Perry, Be the best of whatever you are, March 1974.
Believe in yourself. Believe in your capacity to do great and good and worthwhile things. Believe in the nature within you, the divine nature, that you are in very deed a son or daughter of the living God. There is something of divinity with you, something that stands high and tall and noble. Get above the dirt and the filth of the earth and walk on a higher plane with your heads up, believing in yourselves and in your capacity to act for good in the world and make a difference. - President Gordon B. Hinckley
“I am of infinite worth with my own divine mission which I will strive to fulfill.” (Personal Progress, Salt Lake City: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1989, p. 7.) Each daughter of God is of infinite worth because of her divine mission.
"Each of us comes into this world separately, one by one. This is not an accident. I think it's the Lord's way of reminding us of the infinite worth of each soul." - Dwan J. Young
